THE USA (Part Three)
Concluding our tales from the USA...
Leaving Sturgis we travelled to Cody which represents the Eastern Gateway to Yellowstone National Park. This is true Cowboy country and we visited the famous Cody Nite Rodeo which was very interesting and most enjoyable.
Moving onwards we continued to Yellowstone National Park where we stayed for two nights. Yellowstone sits astride the Continental Divide enclosing craggy peaks, alpine lakes, deep canyons and vast forests and is home to five dozen species of mammals including bighorn sheep, bison, elk, moose and black and grizzly bear.
A visit to Old Faithful is a must, to see the world famous Geyser which erupts between every 45 and 110 minutes. It is a spectacular sight!
Making our way south is the Grand Teton National Park where we stayed for two nights at Jackson Lake. This is truly an amazing place to stay with snow covered mountain peaks and crystal clear lakes.
Sadly our fantastic holiday was coming to an end as we left Jackson Lake and made our way to Jackson Hole. We recommend a visit to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar if only to try and sit on the horse saddle stools at the bar!
Wishing we had more time to stay we reluctantly continued our journey which took us from Jackson Hole to Salt Lake City and onwards via Atlanta and finally home to Manchester.
We had a fantastic holiday and it is one which we can thoroughly recommend...here’s to the next time!
