This is one of a large chain of American-style restaurants that are also meant to be fun bars. The decor is retro, bright and corporate. If you visit a TGIF anywhere in the country it will look similar to this. I believe the name TGIF is an acronym for, ‘Thank God it’s Friday’.

My colleague and I had some business one Saturday morning and went on afterwards to TGIF for some lunch.

Although it was early there were already quite a few family groups in. We were quickly greeted and seated by a pleasant waiter.

We had a couple of cold beers whilst we perused the extensive menu. There is a large list of cocktails you can fun with, or alternatively, lots of beers and wines by the glass or bottle.

The food menu is bright and American in presentation. The appetisers include such items as Jack Daniel’s® Wings, Potato Skins and Mozzarella Dippers. The main menu moves on Jack Daniel’s® Ribs, steaks, shrimp, burgers and chicken and much more. For dessert there is cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake, ice creams etc.

We both settled for Jack Daniel's® Monterey Burger which comes dressed with sweet 'n' smoky glaze, with crisp bacon and Monterey Jack cheese and a side of Jack Daniel's® sauce. And, of course, the obligatory French fries. The portions are definitely of American standards and we required no more than the main course. The burger was prepared from quality beef and was very well prepared.

TGIF is a unique establishment and lives up to its fun reputation. The other groups were all having family fun and looked very happy. If you are looking for something different, or somewhere to take younger people, then may be a good choice.

Will we return?

Yes, it is a good spot to entertain younger people.

Our Verdict

Atmosphere 8/10
Service 8/10
Food 8/10
