One of our readers recommended that we visit OCA restaurant in Sale town centre. It is nicely positioned alongside of the Town Hall and has a large outside seating area that looks on to the Bridgewater canal. OCA have a deal with nearby Q-Park that gives diners two
hours free parking for a minimum £5 expenditure.

This is a large room restaurant, spacious, well laid out with lots of natural light.

The menu is Italian and comprises of fourteen starters, eighteen different styles of pizza, six oven baked pasta dishes and 5 main course
salads. There are side dishes and top-up variations to be had as well as the daily specials. Sensibly priced children’s meals are available.

The wine list offers a popular selection and is practically priced. We ordered a bottle of Olifant South African Sauvignon.

The specials were mushrooms with blue cheese as a starter and chicken breast stuffed with cheese and served with vegetables. I
chose both of these. My colleague ordered bruschetta to start followed by salmon pasta bake.

We enjoyed the food: hot, tasty and satisfying. The pudding menu has a nice selection with lots of traditional favourites on it, and I noted that all of these are made in-house. However, we had reached capacity
and settled down to finish the wine.

Service was very good. Our two waitresses, Katharine & Marianne have the balance between being attentive and entertaining, very well polished.

Although it was early evening there were a few couples and families dining. I am sure OCA is a fun restaurant at the weekend when it is busy. It had a family friendly feel about it.

Our bill came to a very reasonable £37. There was a £5 offer discount off the wine, which helped and I notice they advertise a variety of promotions to entice their diners to return.

In these austere days restaurants are having to work a little harder to provide value for their customers and OCA is doing just that.

Will we return?

Yes, the lasagne and garlic bread is calling out to me.

Our Verdict

Atmosphere: 8/10
Service: 9/10
Food: 8/10
Value for money: 8.5/10
