Da Vinci Restaurant
9 School Road, Sale M33 7XY

The Da Vinci restaurant is close to Sale Metrolink and directly opposite the Town Hall. Parking is always a challenge in Sale, so it is handy that the multi story car park is close by.

There is a touch of the Tardis about this restaurant. It doesn’t look large from the outside but once through the front door you will find it certainly is. The long room is cleverly divided with open partitions and warmly decorated in pastel shades.

We had a reservation for 7.30 on Saturday evening and were promptly greeted at the door by friendly staff who took our coats and led us to our table. We were offered an aperitif and furnished with comprehensive menus.

There is a well stocked bar and an excellent wine list. We ordered a bottle of house red which was quite acceptable and cost just £12.95.

The menu is classically Italian with a good selection of beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes. For starters we ordered minestrone soup and a portion of ribs in barbeque sauce. Both were well cooked and tasty.

For the main course I had chicken breast cooked with Parma ham and cheese, served with fresh vegetables. Lovely. My guest ordered a seafood pizza. When it arrived I thought ‘She’ll never eat all that’. Wrong again; all gone, every morsel.

For dessert we both had Italian trifle, which was light and lovely.

The restaurant was busy, the diners were enjoying themselves and there was as a good atmosphere about the place. Service was efficient yet unobtrusive. The total bill was £60, which is very good value for money for a good meal in pleasant surroundings on a Saturday evening.

Will we return?

Yes, this restaurant ticks the right boxes.

Our Verdict
