Africa
South Africa is a breathtakingly beautiful country, and from the moment you step off the plane in view of Table Mountain you have a wealth of options for how to spend your time.
Cities, beach, mountains, vineyards and of course safaris are just a few of the suggested ideas.
Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, situated between craggy Table Mountain and the lively Waterfront Area. It has great shops, bars and restaurants, and with the favourable exchange rate everything is very reasonably priced for British visitors. There are beautiful beaches with easy reach of the city, so you get the best of both worlds within one stay.
Visiting the Winelands is easy to do from Cape Town, and can be done on a day trip, but my recommendation would be to stay for two or three nights, as there are superb boutique style hotels there with world class restaurants.
For many people a visit to Africa would not be complete without a Safari. There are now many malaria free Game Reserves situated in the Eastern Cape, but for me nothing beats the atmosphere when visiting the world famous Kruger Park. The Lodges are luxurious, food and drink exceptional, and the chance of spotting a big cat in its own environment makes the stay magical.
South Africa has the added bonus of having minimal time difference from the UK. This means that unusually for a long haul destination, you do not experience jet lag, meaning that you will arrive home
refreshed, with wonderful memories of a fantastic holiday.
